My 6 favorite TED talks to start 2018 all fired up
As an entrepreneur, I love to watch TED talks. Those 18-minute nuggets of inspiration fire me up, so I can fly high in my business. In this post, I’m sharing my 6 favorite TED talks to inspire you, to connect to your purpose and the mission you have in this life.
1) ‘Not a speaker? Be an Un-Speaker’ by Sally Koering Zimney
Sally Koering explains exactly what it takes to be a speaker and how tough it can be to step on that stage. I love her authentic way of presenting her story and showing her vulnerability. A must-watch when you’re feeling the fear of presenting yourself on stage.
2) ‘The power of vulnerability’ by Brene Brown
OMG, I LOVE Brene Brown for the way she explains (and proves scientifically) how we are all humans. With feelings of feeling vulnerable, shame and guilt. No wonder this TED talk made her career take off!
3) ‘The jihad of love’ by Mohamed el Bachiri
I had the huge privilege of being present in the room when this TEDx talk was recorded. Mohamed – speaking French – sharing his amazing powerful ideas and insights about how he chooses to respond to the Brussels attacks in March 2016, that caused the loss of his beloved wife Loubna. He preaches connection, understanding and compassion instead of fear, hatred or violence.
I can only fully support him on this jihad of love!
4) Richard McCann’s Life Story
Admitted, you need to train your ear a bit to understand Richard’s accent, but once you do, it’s an amazing and heartbreaking story of childhood drama, resilience and power. Richard McCann is painfully honest about his past and the decisions he took. Now, he’s on a mission to inspire people all around the world how to deal with adversity. He’s an amazing example!
5) ‘Barely recognizable’ by Lisa Nichols
Lisa Nichols is a rock star! I love how she doesn’t beat around the bush, how she addresses issues painfully direct (she could have been Dutch!) and how she incites to action. Even though this talk is dated a few years back, it’s still incredibly powerful! Follow that lady to get your butt kicked as an entrepreneur! You won’t regret it.
6) ‘How to stop screwing yourself over’ by Mel Robbins
Another powerhouse of a lady to kick your butt when you’re having a ‘meh’ day. Mel Robbins – the 5-second-rule lady – is no picknick, but I love how she simplifies things. Either you do something, or you don’t. You decide: 5, 4 3, 2, 1… now!
Enjoy being inspired to rock 2018 like a boss! Which one is your favourite? I’d love to know!
